Sillyworks × Gateron Type R Tactile Switch
The Type R switch, a collaboration between Sillyworks and Gateron, is a precision-engineered tactile switch built for enthusiasts seeking immediate, responsive feedback with no wasted motion. Designed as a "100% tactile"
switch, it features a tactile bump that begins as soon as you press,
with no pre-bump linear travel. This is achieved through a long-pole 22 mm POM stem housed in tight-tolerance PA66 nylon top and bottom housings, delivering both smoothness and structural stability.
Under the hood, a 22 mm double-stage KOS spring
ensures crisp actuation with fast return, while the bump is tuned to
hit at ~2.2 mm with a total travel of just 3.0 ± 0.2 mm—ideal for
typists who value speed and snappy tactility. Factory lubrication using a blend of GPL 105 and 205 across the leaf, stem legs, and rails provides a smooth stroke with minimal scratch, making the Type R shine even stock.
Acoustically, it offers a clacky, poppy bottom-out sound
with a lively tactile snap—no mush, no pre-travel, and no mods
required. Whether you're building a high-performance daily driver or a
low-profile, fast-reacting board, the Type R stands out for its tight housings, low wobble, and crisp, modern tactile experience straight from the box.
