TriboSys 3204 is in between the thickness of the GPL 205 grade 0 and TriboSys 3203, providing the ideal general switch lubricant for all applications. The grade 0 greases have been utilized extensively within the mechanical keyboard industry due to their ability to make a new keyboard feel “broken in”. TriboSys 3204 is superior to oils and other greases due to its ease of application over other greases and oils, non-migrating properties, and durability. Miller-Stephenson has filled a gap for the mechanical keyboard community by offering a grade 0 fully fluorinated grease at an easy-to-use oil viscosity. Benefits include:

  • Highly stable and non-migrating grease ideal for tactile and linear switches
  • Elimination of “scratching” sound or any other undesirable acoustic properties
  • Elimination of any undesirable tactile properties such as spring jitter
  • Makes a new mechanical keyboard feel “broken in” and elongates the life of the switches
  • Easy to apply and more consistent wear of the mechanical switch internals

TriboSys 3204 | Grade 0 Mechanical Keyboard Switch Lubricant

Ideal for Tactile Switches on Mechanical Keyboards

TriboSys 3204 is a great general-purpose grade 0 lubricant that is highly utilized in the mechanical keyboard industry. Its oil viscosity and semi-fluid properties make it easy to use and ideal for tactile or “clicky” switches but it is also recommended for linear, Topre, and other Cherry compatible switches. It is recommended for a number of switches, including linear ones, over Krytox GPL 205 grade 0 as more individuals choose TriboSys 3204 for its lower viscosity and near-identical ease of application. It is a fluorinated lubricant that is extremely stable, durable, and non-migrating semi-fluid grease. These properties together make it an ideal choice when modifying mechanical keyboard switches. The end-user will experience smooth, “broken in,” action while being assured that the product will not move from the spot of lubrication.  This and the insulating properties of fluorinated lubricants protect the printed circuit board and other components. The “broken-in” feeling comes from the molding imperfections being normalized by lowering the surface energy resulting in the elimination of unfavorable tactile and acoustic properties that are often associated with new mechanical keyboards. Some examples of the negative acoustic and tactile properties that are eliminated or reduced are scratching sounds and spring jitter or movement. Furthermore, it will allow the keys to wear more uniformly and extend the life of the moving components of a mechanical switch. Benefits of TriboSys 3204g0 include:

    • Highly stable and non-migrating grease ideal for tactile and linear switches
    • Elimination of “scratching” sound or any other undesirable acoustic properties
    • Elimination of any undesirable tactile properties such as spring jitter
    • Makes a new mechanical keyboard feel “broken in” and elongates the life of the switches
    • Easy to apply and more consistent wear of the mechanical switch internals

    Why Choose TriboSys 3204?

TriboSys 3204 allows mechanical keyboard users to have the feel of a “broken-in” keyboard without having to buy a used keyboard which is indeterminate in its remaining lifespan.  Many users prefer the feeling of used switch action to factory new switches.  Also, it will allow the keyboard switches to wear more uniformly to prevent having to replace heavily used keys prematurely.  It is a fully fluorinated lubricant and utilizing this chemistry allows it to be extremely stable, non-migrating, and durable. TriboSys 3204 is very easy to handle and can be applied with a brush due to its semi-fluid and medium oil viscosity index. Most commonly applied as a thin film to tactile switches but can also be used for linear, Topre, and cherry compatible switches. This product is recommended for any mechanical switch type in contrast to Krytox GPL 205 grade 0 due to its lower viscosity, identical ease of application, and non-migrational properties. Miller-Stephenson manufactures this product with strict quality control protocols to make sure every batch has predictable results and viscosity index to ensure the longevity performance characteristics that are imperative to the end-users.
